On the court

Layla Greenhill is a 5'6" two-way guard from Kansas City known for her defense first. A relentless on-ball defender who can guard multiple positions, she pairs that lockdown mentality with the size and skill to create on the wing. This past season she helped lead her 8th grade team to a district championship, and she continues to sharpen her game year-round, training weekly with private skills coaches. A multi-sport athlete, she also competes in club soccer.

In the classroom

Off the court, Layla is exactly the kind of student-athlete the classroom notices first. At The Pembroke Hill School, she earned the highest English award in her 8th grade class and was named Most Improved in Debate in her very first year competing. She was chosen by faculty and staff to deliver the closing speech at her 8th grade graduation. She speaks French and is currently learning Spanish, and she has also taken on robotics and served as a middle school ambassador in both 7th and 8th grade. With a growing interest in Debate, real estate, and a goal of attending law school, she's building a future that reaches well beyond the court.

Work & service

That work ethic shows up away from the game, too. Layla volunteers at Operation Breakthrough, supporting one of Kansas City's longest-standing organizations serving children and families, and she balances a part-time job alongside training and a demanding academic schedule.

Away from the game

When she's not training or studying, you'll likely find her rock climbing, a fitting pastime for someone who treats every challenge as something to outwork.
